Pictures of the Week

Here are some interesting images I captured last Friday.

House in the street. (click on pictures to get full effect)
This house was moved from my brother's school to a lot a few streets over. It's considered historic so the city wouldn't allow it to be torn down. It was pretty cool to see it sitting at the end of the street waiting to be moved to its permanent location the next morning.

Guy carrying pizzas.
Right after seeing the house in the street, I had to go to the grocery store. My brother had the camera and when I saw this guy I got my brother to quickly take this picture. Who carries pizza like this?!?

Australia

I love Australia, the country. I visited Sydney and Cairns in 2004 and loved every minute of my trip. It's a beautiful country and a very pleasant place to be. I want to go back to Australia some day, hopefully soon.

When I heard Baz Luhrmann was directing a movie entitled Australia starring Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman, I was excited. I've seen three of Baz's movies and thoroughly enjoyed them. Every Baz movie I've seen is unique, beautiful and compelling. And I love Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman.

I saw a screening of this movie before it was finished and it was fantastic! Even though there was a lot of work left to be done to the film, I could tell I was going to love the movie. And Baz Luhrmann was in the lobby of the movie theater after the screening! I thought it was really neat to see a filmmaker in the process of putting out his film. Megan, who realized it was Baz, was too star struck to do anything, but Christopher went up and told him it was amazing and not to change anything.

When the movie was released I saw it on opening weekend, if not opening day (can't remember). It was really good and beautiful. It was really interesting to compare the screening version and finished version. One of the differences was the addition of the film's score, which I loved. It really fit the movie and I immediately knew I wanted to own it.

Here's my problem. The score hasn't been released. I keep searching around online for information about its release and I haven't had any luck. I went to David Hirschfelder's website today and sent him an e-mail telling him how much I enjoyed his score and asking if he had any idea about its release. Well I got a response back a few hours later telling me that Fox and Bazmark have no immediate plans to release the score and they at davidhirschfelder.com don't know why. I have half a mind to send Baz and Fox an e-mail even if there's a big possibility I won't hear back from them. I really hope that the score is released at some point. At least I'll be able to own the movie at some point.
